How does Google’s “consent” mode work?
Google’s Consent mode offers two options for integrating user consent on the website: basic mode and advanced mode. In basic mode, Google tags are not loaded until the user interacts with the consent banner, thus preventing any data transmission to Google without prior consent. Once consent has been given, declarations of consent are sent to Google. Without consent, data is not transmitted and beacons are not triggered, based on a general conversion modeling model.
In advanced mode, beacons load immediately, but are limited to sending cookie-free pings until the user expresses consent via the banner. This method enables more precise personalization and advertiser-specific modeling, offering greater flexibility in consent management and better adaptation to specific data collection needs.
What data does Google collect?
When visitors give their consent, the tags operate normally. In case of refusal, instead of storing cookies, they send cookie-free pings to Google, indicating consent status and user activity. These pings cover consent status for Google Ads and Floodlight, report conversions and interactions with Google Analytics, without sharing personal information. The data sent includes technical details, such as time and originating URL, as well as aggregated information, such as consent status and non-personal identifiers, guaranteeing confidentiality while enabling limited analysis and tracking.
Use of IP addresses and web logs
An IP address is a numerical code that identifies your computer on the Internet.
Odigo may use your IP address and browser type to help diagnose problems with its server, administer its site and improve the quality of services offered to users. Odigo may perform IP address lookups to obtain a more detailed view of the demographic composition of its user base.
